Washington Memorial Chapel was built as a tribute to George Washington and the American Patriots of the Revolution. The cornerstone for the Chapel was laid in June of 1903. The Chapel was designed by Milton B. Medary, Jr. who was selected by the University of Pennsylvania in a competion for that purpose.
